#UgblogWeek – Day 1: Gender Inequality is here to stay

Inequality came to live with us and will never leave. All these women organisation struggling for equality should just fight for cooperation and understanding instead. We all can’t be equal. There is a phrase in Animal Farm by George Orwell, ” All animals are equal but some are more equal than others”. This is a true description of what is happening around us.

The world is full of crafty persons who think they are better than others and will always be. You can see it even in schools and universities. Students from urban and rural schools are far different. Not forgetting the superiroty Makerere University students think they have over occupants of other institutions. Inequality is everywhere……

Therefore, instead of using propaganda to judge “a brother”, we should accept him and improve his thinking. Many women are failing to settle down because they have been told they can be like men.My sister, you can’t be like a man because you don’t know what it takes to have many beautiful flowers in your garden but have to choose and keep only one. Thus, you can’t be like a man but you can be better than him.  In such a way you shall get him to realize we are not just women but great people he needs around him. I must say things have improved. You now don’t have to put on a trouser to prove a point. Remember, in Genesis 3:20-22 “so the man named all the birds and all the animals; but not one of them was a suitable companion to help him. Then the Lord God made the man fall into a deep sleep, and while he was sleeping, he took out one of the man’s ribs and closed up the flesh, He formed a woman out of the rib and brought her to him”. What am i saying, woman, you are his companion but not his competition.  Genesis 3:24- “That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united with his wife, and they become one” .

Am tired of hearing ladies say, men don’t know the burden of carrying a child for 9 months and bringing them into this cruel world. How about you remember that he contributed a whole lot. If we are going to take our inequality to this level then we ain’t helping but destroying.

When a person hears the word gender inequality, the first thing that clocks in their mind is “women”.  Society has ignored the men. It’s obvious that its the women who are affected in most cases. But let us not make it a battle of trophies.

  1. Equality has never been about becoming men.
    Inequality has improved
There was time when women were not even allowed to work or vote or make decisions or go to school
So it’s not a battle of trophies, it’s life and death.

  2. i think one of the problems with gender equality is when people donot respect each other, especially when the women strive so much to be like the men and end up disrespecting them thats where i have a problem but theres no problem with women trying to do what a man can unless the men are afraid that the women can do it better than they can. And yeah i agree men have some contribution to a child too but you can never compare to what a woman goes through carrying another human for nine months and bringing it into this world, that one will be an argument i can have with men over and over again. At the end of the day you might never understand but when you have time go back and look at what a pregnant woman goes through and then you will not be tired.
that aside, true gender inequality is very much alive and the future for it is blurry
